It was reported late Thursday night that Kevin Samuels, the controversial relationship advisor that constantly went viral for rather infuriating takes on women in relatinships passed away at age 56. It was confirmed by a close friend of his, Melanie King in the middle of her live streaming a show. She stated that she had “family confirmation” and the Instagran account Plug Talk said he passed from “cardiac arrest.”

It was just 4 days ago that The Root published a piece asking When Will Kevin Samuels Finally be Cancelled? This came after he went viral for saying women 35 and above were “leftover women.” This adds to his list of controversial remarks to include him saying black women didn’t suffer from domestic abuse, that you shouldn’t believe children who claim sexual abuse because they lie, all added to the fact that he rated women on a 10 scale of what he calls “sexual marketplace value.” He’s said women should tolerate cheating in order to be with a “high value man” among other things that encourage the normalizing of abuse.

Samuels was said to have brought hard conversations to the forefront which we have to argue is not the case. We’ve heard many of these takes already from traditional black conservatives that constantly berate black people as somehow constantly needing correction. These were the same old tropes regurgitated and disguised as relationship advice. He just went viral with these takes stated by a black face.
