Hip hop mogul Diddy is now being reported by TheJasmineBrand to have inked a new deal with Motown Records and currently planning a new album. his label Bad Boy Records is still in existence, it isn’t clear about where it fits in this equation. He announced working on his 5th album Off The Grid Vol. 1 last summer with a tentative release date of September 2021 but the label change is stated as the likely cause for the delay. An update did come in the form of TDE engineer MixedByAli sharing a pic this past January captioned “Hello Good Morning,” showing he was working on the album.

Diddy’s last album happened all the way back in 2006 so fans have been waiting for some time. And his label change will have him in the company of big hitters like Migos, Lil Baby, and The City Girls.

In other news he announced a few days ago that he’s both executive producing and hosting the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. He made a statement saying, “This will be unlike any awards show. I’m bringing the love and setting the frequency at an all-time high. The Billboard Music Awards truly represent the artists and where music is today, so I’m excited to curate the biggest live performances and surprises. The world has to tune in to see.”

It looks like he’s got an excited second half of the year. And that’s a nice contrast to the first half being mired with former Making the Band cast members ganging up on him from Freddy P crying saying he made him hate life to Day 26 member Willie Taylor who said he felt he was set up to fail by being on the show. I will add that Mysterious, who’s now known as Misty Blanco has said numerous times that she’s grateful for the time she spent with Diddy and that he’s helped her grow into the executive that she is now, inspiring her to level up. She’s since challenged the other members of Da Band to do the same. And I’ll add that I interviewed Que from Day 26 who said the show was an amazing experience and would 100% do it again. We’ll be staying tuned to see what Diddy’s got up his sleeve.
