Rapper DMX was spotted in New York City shooting for a new film, Chronicle of a Serial Killer where he’s playing of all things a cop. He’s taking the place of Kill Bill actor Michael Madsen who was booted from the cast over a DUI. It’s an interesting role considering his extensive rap sheet but director Steve Stanulis said he was “going to bring a different dynamic to the role.” He also was so confident in choosing DMX that he didn’t even have to audition for the role. Also starring in the film is Tara Reid, Eric Roberts and Aly Mang. While it isn’t clear the role Tara Reid will be playing, shes says she’s been approached with more age appropriate films these days which is a good thing because as she says, she gets to show some career growth and another side of herself.

Chronicle of a Serial Killer is a part of a larger comeback that DMX is working on. He’s been in the studio with producer Swizz Beats who go back a couple decades. Just seeing the two together in the studio on Instagram immediately lead to support from industry veterans Busta Rhymes, E40 and fans alike. His appearance at Coachella this year definitely helped drum up press for him. He’s even lead prayer at Kanye’s Sunday service before this year. DMX is one of the most respected in the game and his return to the big screen and in music after being released from prison for tax fraud earlier this year is a long awaited event and we’re more than excited for him.
