The Season 2 finale of HBO Max’ Euphoria was Sunday night and aired with a massive viewership from fans. In fact, the reaction was so huge that by 9:05 pm over 52,000 complaints according to DownDetector about users unable to view the show. By 9:20 pm it had fallen to 4,000. It peaked just minutes before the show aired at 8:55 pm. The message users received was “Can’t Connect. We’re having issues connecting to HBO Max right now. Please try again.” Connected TV devices showed the following message: “Something Went Wrong. Sorry, we’re having trouble communicating with the service. Please close the app and try again.”
A spokesperson for WarnerMedia said in a statement, “We’ve seen the tweets from some of our users who had trouble accessing HBO Max around 9pm ET and are engaging directly to help get them back into the platform. This short interruption has since been resolved.”
The show’s season 2 premiere had 13.1 million viewers on HBO and HBO Max leading to an average of 6.6 million viewers, a full 100% increase over last season’s viewership. And on the night of the Super Bowl, the show had a whopping 5.1 million viewers.
The show was ordered for a third season earlier this month and not suprisingly so. ScreenRant.com referred to Zendaya as Euphoria’s greatest asset and not just for being the star of the show but her star power. She’s arguably one of the most successful of her Disney Channel peers starring in movies like Spider Man, The Greatest Showman, Dune, the Netflix movie Malcolm & Marie and now Euphoria where she’s truly shining these days.
