If you’re a Beyonce fan, you might know Alvester Martin for working with her as a background dancer. He’s also worked with Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah, Rihanna and Tamar Braxton. Despite being such a talented singer, what many don’t realize is that he’s also a recording artist himself. From Dade County, FL he first went to L.A. to pursue a music career but ended up becoming a backup dancer for Beyoncé, and who would turn that down? For those who didn’t know, Alvester also appeared in the video for Michael Jackson’s post-humous music video A Place with No Name which appeared on So You Think You Can Dance summer of 2014.
“The reason I even wanted to sing and dance as a kid was because of Michael Jackson,” he said in an interview. “Seriously, he was and still is my idol! Being apart of that video was more than just being on camera in a video, it was a chance to be apart of Michael’s legacy and greatness. Simply put, it was a little kid’s dream actually come true!”
Aside from being a singer and dancer, he’s appeared in Stomp the Yard, Footloose and Leave it On The Floor.
