Rapper Fetty Wap is currently sitting in the slammer after threatening to kill someone on Instagram Monday flashing a gun around in the process which was deemed a violation of the terms of his release for his October 2021 drug trafficking case. He already barely was a free man after being released on a half million dollar bond last year when he was brought up on charges that he was working with 5 other people to trafficking over 100 kilograms of drugs on Long Island. Now he’s pretty much asking for it breaking one of the first rules to committing crime… not doing it on camera.
The phone call in question took place in December 11, 2021 so he probably thought he had gotten away with it until he was picked up by the police Monday in New Jersey. Prosecutors from the Eastern District of New York said he called a man identified as John Doe calling him a “rat” and then threatened to kill him. The charging documents said he told him, “Imma kill you and everybody you with,” and repeated “I’m gonna kill you.”
“This was a direct violation of both state law and the condition of his release,” an FBI agent wrote in the affidavit. Fetty Wap’s attorney, however says things aren’t exactly as they seem. Elizabeth Macedonio said her client was essentially set up where days earlier someone had posted a pic of his dead 4 year old daughter to provoke him. “I”m happy she’s dead because her father is a rat,” the person wrote in the photo’s caption.
“He was very manipulative in trying to get a rise out of Mr. Maxwell, to agitate him in a way no parent would have to face…the death of one’s 4-year-old daughter is something no one should use as a ploy,” Macedonio told Judge Locke. And while the judge was sympathetic, Fetty still ended up being detained because he was “clearly deploying a gun to threaten to kill someone.” For context, his daughter Lauren that he had with Turquoise Miami had died that July. So in other words, the Marion Barry “B*tch set me up” excuse won’t be flying in this instance. (By the way, God rest his soul. Being from DC, we love Marion Barry. We just couldn’t resist that one.) So we’re going to see when he manages to get back out of jail. This was 100% avoidable. Come on, Fetty.
