Former Raiders player Henry Ruggs was involved in a fiery car crash Tuesday morning around 3:30 that left a 23 year old woman and her dog dead as well as his girlfriend injured. Vegas police said the 22 year old wide receiver was charged with a DUI that resulted in death earlier in the week. Now prosecutors are pushing for felony charges of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possession of a firearm while under the influence. As of Friday he had not been formally charged as of yet.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department earlier in the week released a statement saying in regards to him being behind the wheel of the Chevy involved that “preliminary investigation indicates the front of the Chevrolet collided with the rear of the Toyota.” They continued saying, “Responding officers located the Toyota on fire,” the statement said. “Fire department personnel responded and located a deceased victim inside the Toyota.”
The 23 year old woman that was killed’s name was Tina Tintor was on her way home with her dog Maxi when the accident happened according to her friend Bojana Filipovic in a discussion with Fox 5 Vegas. “We always go to parks and walk her dogs and just hang out and have a good time,” she said. “And just think about the future. We were just talking about going to Serbia together.” She said Tintor, a Serbian immigrant, was just about to get her U.S. citizenship and “everything was going swell.”
Ruggs was going 156 miles per hour when it happened and was released from the Raiders since all of this happened. I actually follow someone on Instagram who on a daily basis was posting footage of him driving well over 100mph, sometimes approaching 150 until he totalled his car. He stopped it saying he could have died. At least he wasn’t under the influence like Ruggs. One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing people throw away talent over foolishness.
