Tiffany Haddish decided to offer her thoughts on curing racism during a panel discussion with The Hollywood Reporter. And why wouldn’t she? The world is literally on fire so any advice given would be more than appreciated. But her solution isn’t something that involves NGOs, monitoring state run institutions, allocating government funds, none of that. It’s actually pretty simple.
The self-proclaimed “administrator of joy” simply said that if we want to address racism, “To be honest, I don’t know. But I know when I have problems and I want them solved, I just stop having sex and everything’s solved.
“So, if everybody just stopped having sex, especially if you are in an interracial relationship and your man is white, stop having sex with your white man. Things will change.”
She then turned to the white women in the audience and said, “If you are a white woman and you’ve got a white man, stop having sex with that white man. When a white man ain’t gettin’ no sex, things change, that I know.”
She did receive a little pushback with fellow panelist Jameela Jamil saying that she felt the problem was people not getting enough. Haddish responded saying, “Sex is power.” She continued, “If a black man ain’t gettin’ no sex,” she said, “he’s going to team up with the white man, ‘Look, brother, we’ve got to figure this out. OK? The women ain’t having sex with us and I don’t want to have sex with a man. So we’ve got to figure this out. We’ve got to make it right.’”
Now this might be decent advice but let’s also add in the context that the world has been under quarantine for months which means couples have been forced to spend time together. Adding no sex in the mix might add some unintended consequences but she seems to be speaking from experience so ladies, though it’s a joke, follow with a grain of salt. Sidebar: We love Tiffany Haddish. Anything to take the edge off of things wouldn’t hurt these days.
