Bill Cosby is home now on a technicality and the opinions are now flying. And that includes his co-star on The Cosby Show, Phylicia Rashad who went on Twitter defending him. Given that they worked together and one could argue she knew his character, it would be expected she would take up for her friend. But of course that statement wasn’t going to be made without controversy. Calls for her to be fired as Dean of Howard University’s College of Fine Arts have now begun.

In response to her statement, Howard University’s rep had a few words they shared with TMZ while supporting Rashad saying, “Personal positions of University leadership do not reflect Howard University’s policies.” They continued, “Survivors of sexual assault will always be our priority. We will continue to advocate for survivors fully and support their right to be heard. Howard will stand with survivors and challenge systems that would deny them justice.” The school itself did address her remarks directly saying, “her initial tweet lacked sensitivity towards survivors of sexual assault.

Now anyone with sense would expect her to take her friend’s side. Some people legitimately see those they’ve known and worked with in instances like these as innocent. And claiming she should lose her job over this is simply overreacting. If you have an issue with the verdict, hold it up with the judicial system. She didn’t bring him back home.
