Valentine’s Day is around the corner and Issa Rae has just the thing for you. She’s teamed up with AirBnB to offer a romantic experience in South L.A.’s View Park neighborhood from Saturday the 12th through Monday the 14th with everything from a catered meal to a call with Issa Rae herself.
“I’m inviting guests to spend a weekend in my hometown to experience the culture, businesses and communities that influence my storytelling on screen,” Rae wrote in her Airbnb listing. “I can’t wait to show guests all the things that make black LA so special firsthand.”
“The streets, sights and sounds of my hometown have long been a main character in my creative work. You may have heard that I’m rooting for everybody black — and this mission is inspired by my LA community. During this epic weekend, I hope you come to appreciate my community’s rich history and its many contributions to LA,” Rae continued.

And regarding the neighborhood, she said “Los Angeles has so many unique neighborhoods, but I have a soft spot for South LA. It’s exciting to see the neighborhood get the attention it deserves as everyone prepares for football’s favorite Sunday,” From Leimert Park or View Park to Inglewood and Baldwin Hills, you’ll quickly learn why South LA is home to some of the city’s best, if lesser-known, food, art, creativity and culture.”
In other Issa Rae news, she recently just signed a deal where her audio company Raedio will be working on multiple podcasts for Audible. “We’ve had tremendous success with scripted podcasts over the years and with our Audible collaboration we’re excited to bring fresh, original content to Audible listeners everyehere,” Benoni Tagoe, the president of Raedio, said in a statement. “Our goal is to continue to supply the audio pipeline from music to storytelling as an audio everywhere company.” She’ll now be in the same company as Kevin Hart, Steph Curry, Conan O’Brien and Lebron James, all who have recently signed similar deals with Audible.
