Beauty influencer James Charles took months off from Youtube after having his account demonetized and returned with an apology video for DM’ing minors. Titled Holding Myself Accountable he said the whole situation was “really embarrassing,” went on to say he “fully [understood]” how his actions are “wrong.”
“I realized I was allowing myself to be so easily accessible to anyone who wanted to give me attention and wanted to have a conversation,” he said. He deleted the video and made another on July 2nd titled, “An Open Conversation” where he addressed DM’ing fans that were minors. He blamed himself for “putting [himself] into these types of situations” and even added that some of the DM’s from him floating around were faked.
So what did James Charles then do after expressing multiple times about how he gets in trouble with his DMs, he asked fans to DM him about graphic design work to help him with Youtube thumbnails.
Now it’s hard to imagine how this 22 year old can manage to end up in trouble about once a quarter in something that is completely disgusting. And again, at just 22 this is what type of reputation he’s building for himself.
