If you all remember, back in September we reported that Jeannie Mai clarified that she had not yet gotten married to rapper Jeezy despite being caught calling him her husband at the time. She said she did it because in her words, “When I say yes, if I wasn’t comfortable calling him my husband, I wouldn’t say yes in the first place.” Mmmkay. Well now she’s officially Mrs. Jenkins. (Jeezy’s real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins).

The couple wed March 27th at their home in Atlanta which was covered by Vogue Magazine. And don’t you worry. The celebration was COVID friendly with Jeannie Mai telling the magazine, “We were really looking forward to having all of our friends and family there to celebrate. But we had to change all of our wedding plans due to COVID. After Jeezy’s mother unexpectedly passed, we quickly learned that life is too short. And at the end of the day, Jeezy and I really just wanted to become husband and wife.”

“So we decided to turn our original wedding into a mini-mony, where we exchanged our vows in front of our immediate family and a few close friends,” she added.

Jeannie got hitched wearing a custom nude Galia Lahav gown with a chiffon skirt that had appliqués added by hand. And her wedding veil was 15 feet long. Jeezy matched her wearing a champagne blush Teofilo Flor suit. Attendees were asked to wear off white which was said to represent “peace in their union.”

The wedding also featured Tyrese as the wedding singer. As a 90s baby, I pretty much have tears in my eyes just thinking about what that must have been like. He posted on Instagram that it had been so long since he was really dressed up that he just wanted to sit back and savor the moment.

We’re happy for the newlyweds and glad to see that something good has come out of this pandemic.
