A re-vamp of Jersey Shore was announced in May as Jersey Shore 2.0 with an all new cast but it appears some hiccups have come up. First 495 Productions had trouble in finding a location to film with cities like Lavallette, Berkeley, Toms River and Brick Township all denying them coming there because of the reputation they brought to Seaside Heights. They did, however settle on Atlantic City but as soon as it was announced they were moving in there, all the installed equipment was packed up and taken out. MTV has simply only said to TMZ that production “has been paused.”
Other issues plaguing the show involve casting. It was revealed by the family member of someone scheduled to be part of the cast that they had made racist and homophobic remarks online so that automatically disqualified them. Then there’s the fact that the original cast is in objection of the show and released a joint statement.
Signed by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Pauly “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio, Vinny Guadagnino, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Angelina Pivarnick, and Deena Nicole Cortese, the statement read, “As a cast that took a chance with a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on television for the world to see. We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives for the world. So please understand that we are not in support of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers. Don’t forget to tune into an all new season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.”
