It’s now over two weeks since Jussie Smollett’s reported hate attack by Trump supporters occurred in Chicago. It has grown to the extent that there’s more about this incident than his entire career in Wikipedia at the moment. Neighbors of his have expressed that they don’t believe he’s telling the truth about what happened. Agin Muhammad said “I don’t believe it happened the way he said it did. I’ve been in this neighborhood five years. I don’t believe it, not around here … Half the people are gay and the other half are black.” A block from the scene, a patron at Lizzie McNeill’s Irish Pub said “It’s a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around,” said the man, who wouldn’t give his name. “They have cameras everywhere … Why can’t they find the attack?”

As we reported earlier, Jussie was asked by police to hand police his phone, to which he declined. His team said they did so to protect his privacy. They’ve said they were preparing to give the Chicago police his records, which they did… a redacted/edited version. The police declined to accept it and have now asked for an adequate bill as PDF documents as the one he submitted can be manipulated.

In his first interview since the attack, Jussie appeared for a taping of Good Morning America today for it to air tomorrow, Thursday, February 14th. He’s seen crying in the interview after being asked “What happened that night?” by Robin Roberts in a teaser of the interview. She continued asking “At any point during the attack did you fear for your life?” while he was still sobbing uncontrollably.

His sister Jazz Smollett offered her support at the Television Critics Assosciation press tour with her brother Jake yesterday while promoting their Cleo TV reality series Living by Design saying he was healing. We’ll be reporting on new details as they come.
