Photo Credit: Jussie Smollett/InstagramJussie Smollett had a very close call in his family this week. His mother, who’s in her 70s narrowly escaped her home being burglarized Monday night where he rushed to her side immediately afterwards to make sure she was okay… honestly as a good son should. Apparently, what happened was two would be burglars showed up to his mother,
Janet Smollett’s home and tried to break into a back door, causing $300 in damages to the window but were unable to get in. Sources say she ran out to confront them when she heard a commotion and they ran. That sounds like one bad ass grandma! And kudos to Jussie for showing up to make sure his mother is okay. Of course people are going to question the story because, come on… consider the source. But the moral of the story is that you SHOULD always make sure your parents are doing fine.
In other Smollett news, Jussie just opened up about his 2019 hoax for the first time to People Magazine in conjunction with a press run he’s doing for his sophomore directorial debut The Lost Holliday. While he said he is still “dealing with the repercussions from that narrative” about staging a fake hate crime but says it doesn’t take up as much space in his head anymore.
“It’s not in my mental and it’s not in my soul, it’s not in my spirit. People can say what they want about you, but they have no control. They can do whatever they want, they can even put you behind bars. They can control your physical, but they can’t control my mind. They can’t control my spirit. They can’t control my soul, and they can’t control the knowledge that I have of who I am.” You can read the rest of his interview at TheRoot.com
