Justin Bieber has given music a backseat in his life lately to get married (twice) and go off on a spiritual journey, singing praise and worship in his church and such. All of that seems to be changing according to a recent Instagram post of his where he first shared a cryptic message saying “R&Bieber,” which would make a very good album title and another stating he’s going to be releasing music soon… but with an ultimatum. Here’s the deal the 25 year old pop star is offering. He said, “If this gets 20 million likes Justin Bieber will release an album before Christmas.” This was accompanied with the caption, “Share it, like it, post in your story, I gotta see the demand ;), love you guys pumped for it! I’m almost done but your support will make me move faster.”

While this is a bit eyeroll worthy for the adults in the room, we’re sure a brilliant marketing person in his camp suggested it just to see what type of social media capital he has. If he’s able to command people to move on social media in that manner, it should reflect well for album sales. Then again, this could just be his ego speaking. We’re more inclined to think it’s the former because Bieber has been a lot more aware of his actions and behavior. Long gone are the days of urinating in mop buckets, driving 100 mph through his neighborhood and trashing his green room at the Wendy Williams Show.

Publicity stunt or not, whatever this is has gotten him halfway there with about 10 million likes on the post within the first day of making this post. Scooter Braun, Cruz Beckham and DJ Khaled have all shared the post hoping to help get the Biebs the likes needed to get the album out soon. Also, does the fact DJ Khaled shared it mean that he’s on the album? That sounds like a good mix there. And what about this religious kick he’s been on? Will we hear some Christian music from him? How cool would two mainstream artists venturing into gospel and Christian music in the same quarter, ie. him and Kanye? Well, maybe not a full Christian album but a track or two to switch things up to go with his new image would be nice. And just for the heck of it, we’re going to throw in a like on his post to help him reach his mark just because we don’t feel like waiting ’til next year to review his new work.
