Kandi Burruss is doing a lot of things these days. She was always known as the biggest boss on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but since leaving the show, she seems to have ramped things up a notch because she’s showing us a side we haven’t seen from her before. She currently has a guest role on the second season of the Hulu series Reasonable Doubt which she landed by meeting the show’s creator on a plane. She asked for a character that would help her “acting chops” and that’s what she got playing the recovering addict Eboni Phillips, a role she says she pulled from a personal experience of dating an addict in the past.

Other work Kandi has been up to include touring with Xscape, signing on to the production team of Denzel Washington’s Broadway production of Othello, which is the first time the tale will be on Broadway in over 40 years. She’s also been filming more episodes of The Chi and has been so ecstatic with all of this other work she’s been doing that she hardly misses the drama from The Real Housewives.

“I couldn’t be happier with the way things have been going since I am not on the show,” Burruss told People Magazine. “Not that I don’t like the show, I just feel like when I left, I had done 14 seasons straight. No other Housewife had done that. So a lot of times, I was filming all year-round reality, and that can be a little draining. Since I left Housewives, I’ve done a lot of things I’m super excited about. It’s a lot happening.” And speaking on the difference between acting and reality television, she said, “Acting is almost escapism in a way. Being on a scripted show, when the scene is done, nobody has hard feelings. You go home and everything is at peace. But when you’re doing reality, everybody cannot wait to go in on each other. As soon as you leave the scene, you’re still mad at each other. I get home, it’s like all-out war. It’s night and day.”

Glitzers, are you happy for Kandi Burruss stepping out and doing different things with her career or do you want her back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta?
