Katy Perry might be sexually liberated and a feminist but she might want to dial back the sexual liberation part some and focus some more on the part about treating women right… and actually do it herself. She’s just been accused of sexual misconduct from an television host at an industry party who claims a highly intoxicated Perry touched her inappropriately and tried to kiss her. The woman, Tina Kandelaki, says she rejected her advances but says Perry continued to be inappropriate with other people at the party. As reported by Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta, she said she decided to go public with her story after seeing others telling their stories. There has been no comment from Perry’s team about the accusation at this time.
And as we said earlier, this is not Perry’s first accusation of inappropriate behavior. Model Josh Kloss says that while he had a crush on Perry she went as far as exposing his genitals to partygoers. The model, who appeared in her 2010 Teenage Dream music video says she tugged on his underwear exposing him to those standing near him.
He wrote: “So I saw Katy a couple times after her break up with Russel [Brand]. This one time I brought a friend who was dying to meet her. It was Johny Wujeck’s birthday party at moonlight roller way. And when I saw her, we hugged and she was still my crush. But as I turned to introduce my friend, she pulled my Adidas sweats and underwear out as far as she could to show a couple of her guy friends and the crowd around us, my penis. Can you imagine how pathetic and embarrassed I felt?”
And these aren’t the first of her accusations of inappropriate behavior. An American Idol contestant said she kissed him without consent a few years ago but he chose not to press charges. She also grabbed Shawn Mendes’ but while still a teenager (he was 18) but she had never met him up until that moment.
If anything, it looks like Perry is turning the Hollywood stereotype of the old boys’ club on its face but in 2019 that isn’t going to fly. And if she keeps this up she’s going to have some charges in her future. We haven’t had a female face of the #MeToo movement representing women sexually abusing people and the last thing she wants is for that to be her.
