Rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks‘ been facing 5 felonies for a shooting that happened at an Atlanta restaurant back in February who as we last reported asked to be let out on bail. Well things have progressed and not in his favor. An Atlanta Police Department witness has claimed to have seen him pull out a gun the day of the shooting causing her to run around the building after hearing gunshots go off. She circled back around afterwards to find the victim left in a pool of blood. The man was robbed of a vehicle, $30,000 in cash and a chain.
Surveillance footage of him shooting at the victim has now been revealed and now a judge said during a preliminary hearing today that there’s a slew of charges that there’s probable cause to charge him and co-defendent DeaVonte Bennett, aka King Von. They include criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault (shooting at), unlawful for person employed by/associated with criminal street gang to conduct/participate in criminal gang activity, possession of firearm during commission of a felony and possession of firearm by convicted felon.
Atlanta detective Jeffrey Churchill said “You see Mr. Banks’ arm out the window firing several shots at the victim” which occurred just before 6 am February 5th at the intersection of North Avenue and Spring Street. Banks and Bennett will now remain behind bars until their bond hearing next month. In the meantime Durk released a single titled Turn Myself In with over 7 million views on Youtube and nearly 2 million streams on Soundcloud. That should help pay for his legal defense while all this is being worked out.
