Now the year just started and Bronx drill rapper Lil Tjay’s been sent behind bars twice already. It doesn’t appear to be his fault though, if his attorney is to be believed. They’re claiming that the felony gun posession charge he caught at an Ice Spice music video shoot this month revived itself when apparently he was told he didn’t have to go to court but oops, they changed their mind and locked him up for not going.
Tjay’s attorney Dawn Florio said “Lil Tjay was not rearrested for another gun charge. He was excused from appearing in court last Friday by the arraignment Judge. Another Judge revoked his bond and put him back in jail for missing court on Friday, even though the first Judge told him that he did not have to appear. Lil Tjay’s family posted the bail yesterday, and he is free. Unfortunately, he had to be jailed for something that was not his fault.”
The first arrest came about because an illegally parked car with Tjay, whose real name is Tione Merrit and 4 other people in it where 4 firearms were uncovered leading to his arrest and subsequent release after bonding out the next day. His attorney claims the search was illegal and that she can prove the firearms didn’t belong to her client. His next time in court is scheduled to be February 14th. Hopefully he doesn’t miss that date for a Valentine’s Day date instead.
