Two days after a press conference was held to address the largest college cheating scandal in American history, one of the two most prevelant celebrities at the center of it all, Lori Loughlin is now experiencing her share of professional backlash. Thursday, March 14th she was dropped from all the Hallmark projects she was working on by their parent company Crown Media.

“We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,” Crown Media Family Networks said in a statement sent to USA TODAY.

Loughlin starred as Abigail Stanton in the Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart. The show brought in 2.5 million viewers for its Season 6 premiere on February 6th, right behind The Walking Dead, making it the second most viewed cable drama on Sunday night. Now the show might be successful, but they’re not going to go the Empire route and continue airing the show anyway. They’ve chosen not to air this Sunday’s episode. We are evaluating all creative options related to the ‘When Calls the Heart’ series,” the network told USA TODAY in a statement. Ironically, the show films in Canada and the judge allowed her to travel there for work but so far it looks like that won’t be needed.

Then there’s the story of her 19 year old daughter, social media star Olivia Giannulli, better known as Olivia Jade. She’s the one who went on Youtube saying she didn’t really want to go to college, wasn’t sure how much class she’d be attending but was looking forward to the parties, etc. She has one of the easiest jobs for a teenager which is to live off of your social media sponsored posts. In fact, Amazon hooked her up with everything in her dorm room. Kim Zolciak’s daughter Brielle makes a ton from her Instagram account which is why we know how profitable this is. Now it looks like her mother has ruined that for her.

In a matter of two days, TRESemmé, Princess Polly, Smile Direct Club, Amazon Prime Student, Clinique, Lulus, Windsor, Dolce & Gabbana Beauty, Conair, Boohoo and Smashbox Cosmetics have all severed ties with the teenager. To add insult to injury, a few of those brands she hasn’t worked with in some time and they made it known they had no intentions of working with her in the future. That’s pretty harsh for someone her age.

“Lulus has not worked with Olivia Jade since August 2018 and we have no plans to do so in the future.” Colleen Winter, co-founder and CEO of Lulus, told CBS News.

“TRESemmé is no longer working with Olivia Jade Giannulli,” a TRESemmé spokesperson told CBS News.

The problem with this scandal is that it taints the pricey educations that many parents are paying for and leaving other students to ask what are they busting their butts for. Others are wondering if teachers are also being bribed. It’s lead to a nationwide crisis of confidence in higher education. This is why Lori Loughlin has found herself a part of a $500 million lawsuit along with all of the other parents involved in the scandal by Jennifer Kay Toy, whose son, with a 4.2 GPA applied to some of the schools where the cheating took place and was not accepted. She believes he stood a good chance “but did not make the cut for some undisclosed reason.” So far the suit against 46 people but will be adding new names “as they are discovered.”

“I’m now aware of the massive cheating scandal wherein wealthy people conspired with people in positions of power and authority at colleges in order to allow their children to gain access to the very colleges that Joshua was rejected from,” Toy explained. “I’m outraged and hurt because I feel that my son, my only child, was denied access to a college not because he failed to work and study hard enough but because wealthy individuals felt that it was ok to lie, cheat, steal and bribe their children’s way into a good college.” Two Stanford students who were rejected from Yale and USC are also suing the man who created this cheating ring, Rick Singer.

The stress of it all has also caused Lori to delete all of her social media while her daughter has disabled comments on hers. This story is proof that cheating never pays and in the case of an education, even if you get away with it, people will always find out in the real world. As a person whose spent the majority if his life in Washington, it’s a city with many highly educated people, and everyone talks about those who didn’t get their educations honestly. It’s obviously. It might not be clear how they got away with it, but everyone knows who these people are.
