Country singer Luke Bryan has been scheduled to be apart of American Idol’s first ever live show since COVID began but unfortunately he himself has come down with the virus. But fret not, Paula Abdul has come to his rescue. Remember her? It’s been now over a decade since her time on the show but the familiar face who helped cement the show as a top hit aside Simon Cowell will be making her appearance in the interim while Bryan is home quarantining. It isn’t clear as of yet how long this setup will be in place but this is what we can expect for the forseeable future. She will of course be alongside Lionel Richie and Katy Perry as judges.
The announcement was made on Bryan’s social media with him saying, “I’m sad to say I won’t be a part of tonight’s first live @americanidol show,” he wrote. “I tested positive for Covid but I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon.”

Now while it isn’t clear how he got COVID, last summer his cigar bar, Shore Thing Cigars was shamed by TMZ for not social distancing with footage of a packed crowd online. It was the grand re-opening after the original two weeks to stop the spread was over. This obviously was a year ago but it very well is possible that if this was a pattern, it could give some insight on how he tested positive. Either way, we wish him a speedy recovery.
