Mariah Carey has been under Jay Z’s management since 2017 and although they’ve done some great work together to include Mimi getting All I Want for Christmas Is You hitting Number One in the UK for the first time in 26 years or releasing a NYTimes best selling memoir, she’s made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him professionally.

The blow up happened over the future of her career. A source close to the two stars said, “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation. She will formally depart in the next few weeks. It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years. But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.”

They’ve added that she’s already been working on her next steps without skipping a beat, making sure she’s keeping things on track. “Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps. There is a heavily R&B- influenced album being finalised at the moment and she is planning a world tour for next year, so she isn’t letting this stand in her way.”

She’s already been removed from the list of artists represented by Jay Z but she’s got her work scheduled in the pipeline. So far she will be featured on a new song with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis named Somewhat Loved next Friday. Meanwhile Jay-Z has the high profile clients of Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Megan Thee Stallion and Kelly Rowland. Hopefully they all get along with him better than Mariah.
