With a single GIF and no accompanying words, Mariah Carey just issued an epic read to the now outgoing President Donald Trump in a way that everyone knew exactly what she meant. She tweeted a gif of her pointing to the door saying “GTFO,” referencing the promo single of the same name for her 15th album Caution. And they’re words that not just his usual enemies are speaking. The riot at the US Capitol following months of him claiming the election would be and was rigged was the inevatable result as that is what happens when people feel their democracy has failed them. They take matters into their own hands. So to argue his words had nothing to do with it is just silly.
But enough of the history lesson… one could ask why she didn’t just at him and let him know how she really feels but alas, he has no Twitter account. Now this wouldn’t be her first time shading him. Back in 2019 she tweeted thanking Hillary Clinton and her husband for doing so much for their country calling her President Clinton. And do you know why that would especially burn for Trump? Well when she was fresh on the market in the 90s, Trump tried to date her and well, we see that didn’t happen. He told Howard Stern he’d bang her without hesitation. She might have been into older white men in her early years but we’ve seen she’s taken a slight turn of the dial to the BBC and now a younger half asian man and given how #DiaperDon was trending a few months ago (which has not been substantiated), we’re not sure if she’d exactly be satisfied with that. Just saying.
As for this silent shade she gave, it’s almost as good as her infamous “I don’t know her” line about JLo. That one never gets old.
