Rapper Meek Mill visited the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Vegas Saturday afternoon around 3:30 pm and was told by Security that if he got out of the car he would get arrested and that he was not allowed in. He continuously asked why was he being banned, saying he had only been there once with Nicki Minaj for a Jay-Z event 5 years ago and Security said they didn’t know why. Then his attorney Joe Tacopina got involved who ended up being told by the security chief “This comes from way higher up than me.” Tacopina then said he spoke to “a well-placed person inside the hotel” who was told a group of hotels have a list of rappers they’re told not to allow on their property, that it’s racially motivated and that “They wouldn’t ban Vanilla Ice.”

Meek followed up on social media saying “Cosmopolitan hotel/casino going to extreme racist levels to keep too many black entertainers and black people …. they said they gone lock me up.” He added, “Some of these casinos have a bunch of Tatics to keep the level of blacks down …. but love to take our money!!!! This happens to a lot of black entertainers not just me either!!”

A letter’s been revealed to come from Meek’s attorney to The Cosmopolitan Hotel saying “… we have learned that the Cosmopolitan maintains a list of African American recording artists who should be denied access for no other reason than than their culture and skin color. Such course of conduct constitutes discrimination per se, in violation of state and federal law, and exposes you to significant monetary damages.” The letter goes on — “…we urge you to promptly issue an apology to Mr. Williams and grant him immediate access. In the event you fail to heed this one and only warning, we intend to pursue all legal recourse against you.”

Now an entire day later it’s being reported that he’s being banned because of a fight he was in on the property. If that’s the case he should have been told that Saturday. Tuesday is Tuesday. A source at the property made the claim that it was because of a fight. The hotel has remained silent about the situation. Our guess is that they are trying to quietly test the excuse in the media to see how it’s going to go over. They claim Meek “fought with security guards” on their property. Now the way the media works, if Meek indeed did this, it would have been all over then news, especially being that he was dating Nicki Minaj at the time. It simply does not pass the smell test.

Meek’s attorney once again chimed in to TMZ saying, “The racist hole that they [Cosmopolitan] have dug for themselves has just gotten deeper. Yesterday, when this incident unfolded, the chief security guard could not articulate a reason why Meek was denied entry and threatened with arrest. They’ve now come up with some fabricated claim through an anonymous source that Meek was involved in a fight on their property.”

Tacopina goes on … “Meek Mill was never involved in a fight on their property, ever and I challenge the Cosmopolitan to produce a video of such altercation or a contemporaneous incident report. The legal case against the Cosmopolitan just got stronger.”

This is not going to end well and we’re almost certain The Cosmopolitan is going to be on the losing end of this case. We will report more as news unfolds.
