Meghan Markle’s been announced to be having her second child with Prince Harry in a pregnancy shoot taken by their friend and longtime photographer Misan Harriman. “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child,” a spokesperson for the couple told People Magazine. The Duchess looked stunning barefoot in a black and white photo wearing a Carolina Herrera dress designed by the brand’s creative director Wes Gordon.

This new pregnancy comes after she had a miscarriage last summer. She spoke about in an essay in the New York Times where she said “Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few,” published last November. Markle and her husband both stepped down from their official roles as senior royals last year because they simply wanted a normal life. You might recall reports of Markle not being quite fond of the British media to put it nicely. And for them to not allow the press to profit off of antagonizing them is their prerogative. A family friend described the decision as them “doing what’s right for their family.”

Markle’s first child Archie will be turning 2 this May. “It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” she said shortly after giving birth. “He’s just been a dream.” Harry added, “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine. [We look forward to spending] precious times with him as he slowly, slowly starts to grow up.”

Also possibly in Markle’s future could be a run for President. It’s being said that that is part of the reason she chose to keep her US citizenship, to leave the opening there for her to be in US politics. She of course would then have to drop her title of Duchess. “There is no way she would be able to use her title if she held public office in the US,” Bernard Wolfsdorf, former president of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association said. “Her oath of allegiance in the US is clearly contrary to her royal title. If the Duchess was elected to the office of the US presidency, this would run afoul of the Constitution such that she would have to renounce her royal title, and cease being a member of the Royal Family.”

We wish Markle the best and healthiest pregnancy and wish her well should she ever decide to run for office here.
