“I was so happy, but at the same time, it was the first time that I have not been able to be in person for something that I, you know, wanted to be at. And that is a sacrifice we make [with] Broadway. I couldn’t be there, but they represented and held me down in their own way,” she said about Bey and Kelly.
Now Sherri said that it’s hard to think of Destiny’s Child without her and she pointed out a very important detail of her life that people tend to forget, and that is that she doesn’t live anywhere near them. “They live in L.A., I’m in Atlanta and they’ll see them … paparazzi will get them at dinner. We ain’t together all the time,” she said laughing. She also added that they “are together more than people think.”
In the end she concluded with “But there are times I’m not able to be [there]. #IvegotthingsthatpreventmefrombeingplacesyallthinkIshouldbeat.”
She previously said in an interview about her appearance in the Broadway production, “I was a fan of the movie, it’s absolutely hilarious when you think about it. It’s just kind of funny when you hear the inner dialogue that people have concerns about.” And she spoke about how amazing being a part of this new production is saying, “I’m so excited, especially originating a role.”
I was a theater kid, from the church musicals to auditioning for plays and musicals in school,” she said. “They never cast me for those parts and I was like, it’s OK. And then one day in 2003 I made my Broadway debut, so sometimes rejection is protection, or it’s redirection for something better.”
“On a show like this, you’re going to get the stillness and hush of a theater crowd, versus people with their phones up; that’s a transition I have to get used to,” Williams added. “You ain’t at church, you ain’t at a concert. The audience is taking it in, they love what you’re doing. You’re not going to get people up on their feet, swaying from side to side.”
So while showing up to help save democracy with her sisters might have been a great thing, she’s still making waves on her own so no #PoorMichelle at least not today!
