It’s been a few weeks since NeNe Leakes did an Instagram Live video with attorney Ben Crump who represented the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery etc. The discussion was about her ending her relationship with Bravo over claims from her of discrimination. She has repeatedly said that opportunity to advance in her career, likely referring to producer credits, her own show etc were now afforded to her, yet with others like Kim Zolciak who was on the Real Housewives of Atlanta with her on day 1 received her show pretty qiuckly while she remained in her same role. She also arguably help cement the Real Housewives as a cultural thing being the biggest star of all the franchises.
Now Leakes has taken to Twitter reporting that her rep had dropped her and wouldn’t be getting away with it saying, ‘You can’t turn on your teammate and get away with this @stevengrossman #DarrellMiller #Foxrothschild suppression, retaliation, discrimination, unequal pay, devaluation against black women is real, it’s painful and it hurts. I will fight for all women rights PS: FIX IT.’
Apparently flustered still about all that’s been going on, she apologized for the unprofessional tweets stating that she wanted to get information out about the abuse she’s been experiencing saying, ‘Sorry abt my typos! I don’t tweet abt the show, i do not watch the show, i don’t talk abt the show & i don’t talk abt the girls. My concern is the treatment & abuse behind the scenes that you DO NOT see. Please don’t make fun of that. It’s real, painful & it’s happening.’
“I have numerous emails, text messages, RHOA group text, voice recording that go back yearsssss. I never got rid of anything! Fix your dirty work. Being a racist is so yesterday,” she added.
As reported by LoveBScott, Jonesworks PR is no longer representing her, ICM talent agency is no longer representing her, Grossman is no longer representing her and her attorney Darrell Miller has dropped her as well.

All that Leakes has said she wants is a fair negotiation and has said repeatedly that she wants Bravo to come to the table. She isn’t alone in her assertion as Married to Medicine’s Mariah Huq stated that the show she created was pulled from under her by Bravo and that they were bullying her behind the scenes to push her out of her own show. We’ll add that ratings for the show have been slipping since Leakes’ departure and it’s pretty obvious why she was the network’s highest paid star. If any reason for a quick negotiation exists, that alone would be it.
We’re waiting to see how all of this plays out. As for the legitimacy of her claims, some online comments we discovered included those saying she might be experiencing menopause and that her anger was higher than usual. Well normally when people are abused at work, they’re not their normal selves. What do you expect? And it is true that people do enjoy blacks in entertainment so long as they’re entertaining. Getting into management and the like is another story and that may be what we are witnessing here. We will be reporting on this as things continue to unfold.
