We’ve got good news for the Barbs out there. Nicki Minaj jut made an announcement on Instagram that she’ll be dropping the video to Hard White, the 5th single from her album Queen at midnight on Vevo. The clip posted to her Instagram showed her in a rap cypher setting rapping around her video extras. This is her first music video she’s released since Barbie Dreams last September.
The cypher format is perfect for Nicki because as the producer of the track !llmind said, rapping is “what she does best” and honestly, stripping away all of the visuals, fashions, persona, etc., she is an actual raw talent. In Billboard last year, he said “She’s one of the few top-tier artists that’s left that’s like, really rapping. She’s not really built off of a gimmick or anything like that. She’s really respected as a rapper. I think she’s one of the illest, man. Not just for female rappers, but just rappers in general.”
The BET Experience is coming up in June and Nicki’s got a chance to perform on the same stage as Cardi B since they’re both headlining. Lucky for them, Cardi is performing on the second night and Cardi the final night. No need in any unnecessary police drama and additional knots on heads. VIP tickets for the event go on sale Wednesday with general tickets for sale on Friday ranging from $1,095 to $4,200. Those packages include tickets to the award show. Packages for just the Staples Center will also be avalable.
