Today marks the one year anniversary of rapper XXXtentacion being gunned down in a robbery in South Florida and now in a bizarre and uncanny turn of events, his friend, rapper C Glizzy was shot in the head over the weekend and is currently recovering in the hospital. C Glizzy, whose real name is Christian Moore was shot outside of a convenience store in Pompano Beach, Florida. While being rushed to the hospital, his brother crashed on an exit ramp. During his hospital visit, the bullet was removed through a multi-hour operation. WPLG reporter Madeleine Wright tweeted “@CGlizzyofficial’s mom tells me he is heavily sedated and not talking right now, but she is expecting and hoping that he’ll survive the gunshot wound he sustained to the head. Someone opened fire on him as he was leaving a store on MLK Blvd. in Pompano Beach yesterday.” The two have appeared on XXXtentacion’s Instagram account before as they were friends.
And as for XXXtentacion, here on the one year anniversary of his death, his career has exploded in his death with more than 22 million records sold. He’s since won Favorite Album – Soul/R&B at the 2018 American Music Awards and Best New Hip Hop Artist at the 2019 BET Hip-Hop Awards. He recently had a song written as a tribute to him, Don’t Cry by Lil Wayne performed at the Governor’s Ball in New York last month. Kodak Black also released a video to his song entitled Malcolm X.X.X. dedication to the late rapper. For one, it’s a good thing to see Kodak Black treat XXXtentaction better than he did Nipsey Hussle when he tried to push up on her right after he died. His trainer Glavosky25 on Instagram posted a short tribute of the two of them working together as well. There’s been a trending hashtag of #XxxtinctGala2019 that have upset fans saying they just want him to rest in peace without the opportunity being seized on to promote the careers of others. Either way, though he was a controversial figure, he was still loved for his music and our prayers are with his friend C Glizzy that he has a speedy recovery. Lastly, a new XXXTentacion documentary on his life was just announced today.
