Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams has both grown up and transformed in the spotlight before our eyes. From an abusive relationship where she cried thinking about what would happen if she went to a club without her husband’s permission to being the group’s professional twerker to civil rights advocacy, she’s been through quite a lot. And we can’t forget about the fights. When she says she’s going to drag a b*tch, she means it… literally. And what about the fiance who was accused of bestiality? Yep, she’s a strong woman to go through all of that and still decide to show her face on camera.

“Putting yourself out there in these times can be both a blessing and curse” she said in a statement to People Magazine. “I want to share the real me and my story here, including both my trials as well as my many blessings.”

“I am more than a soundbite or a headline or a rumor. I’m a strong Black woman who has triumphed over adversity and owned every single one of my mistakes. My story is a journey of passion, faith, and discovery.”

Her grandfather was civil rights icon Hosea Williams who she revealed in a recent Bravo Watch What Happens Live episode that she was chased by KKK members while protesting with him as a child before. She just got out of jail for protesting the police officers that killed Breonna Taylor still walking around free.

“It was devastating to feel like I was out there trying to stand with my people, stand with our allies, and help them raise a message of hope and to be silenced and not able to breathe because of the gas bomb that was thrown…Anybody who is out there now and they feel like they can’t move forward because of the mistreatment [by] the police and what they’re doing to us…I would say to them, stay focused on the cause.”

Porsha’s memoir The Pursuit of Porsha will be out this September.
