A little over 10 years since he was last in court of sexual abuse and today R Kelly has been indicted with 10 counts of aggravated child sexual abuse. And these charges came from a new sex tape R Kelly is in starring a 14 year old girl we recently reported on discovered by of all people, Stormy Daniels’ former attorney, Michael Avenatti. After an epic flop of a lawsuit he helped Stormy lodge against President Trump that resulted in her having to pay the man she was suing, it looks as though he’s redeemed himself here.
The court date for this case will be March 8th. This comes after a 10 month investigation Avenatti was a part of that he’s been tight lipped about the entire time. Last week he told USA Today about the tape, “This is a bombshell of epic proportions. It’s over, after nearly two decades of abuse by R. Kelly. He will not survive this.”
This comes after decades of accusations, a number of charges he was acquitted of in 2008, a #MuteRKelly campaign, streaming music services that have removed his music, artists that have removed their features with him from the internet to the recent Surviving R Kelly documentary. The difference is that now this is taking place during the #MeToo movement where powerful men in the industry have been getting targeted and taken down left and right. Women are feeling more empowered to speak out than in the past. And as a little bit of a fast fact here, Avenatti says Kelly paid off the teenage girl from the 2008 case who conveniently refused not to testify against him causing R Kelly to immediately be acquitted.
We’ll be giving updates as they come.
