Jeffrey Epstein isn’t the only one finding themselves in handcuffs over allegations of sexual impropriety. R Kelly was just arrested for the second time this year last night and this time for sex trafficking. the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago said he was arrested on a 13 count indictment to include child pornography and obstruction of justice. NYPD arrested him and he’s going to eventually be brought to New York City, a police source stated. His representative Darrell Johnson said he’ll be giving a press conference at 9:30 am today. These charges are on top of 10 felony counts of criminal sexual abuse involving four alleged victims that lead to his arrest in Chicago by the Cook County Sheriff’s Department back in March. Kelly’s last time in court was June 26th when prosecutors turned over a sex tape allegedly showing him with a minor. “We’ll see what it shows,” his attorney Steve Greenberg said at the time.
While no trial date has been set yet, the judge said an early 2020 date can be expected. His next hearing is August 15th and no word on whether he’ll be granted bail or not, yet. It is also important to note that he has always denied the allegations. And in the midst of it all, he still has to work to pay $21,000 a month in child support for his $21 year old daughter. Despite his daughter saying she had a career and didn’t need the money and the obvious circumstances of him not having the money, instead of trying to be lenient, her mother, Drea Kelly said she didn’t care if he got a job at Del Taco to pay the child support, that it was his problem. And it’s all weighed pretty heavily on his family. His daughter Buku Abi has said it’s made her consider suicide.
