Kodak Black was moments away from taking the stage in Miami at the Rolling Loud Festival yesterday when US Marshals along with the Miami police department’s North Side gang unit and federal agents from the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives showed up to take him away on state and federal gun charges. Apparently unfazed by it all, he was seen smiling in pictures while being hauled off site. The arrest came after what’s been reported as “extensive investigations” into his behavior.

This arrest shouldn’t come as any surprise as he just skipped out on a performance in Boston last month when he was arrested for trying to run the border into Canada with a number of illegal guns and drugs among him and members of his entourage. He’s experienced a barrage of bad press in recent weeks after making a cringe-worthy remark about how he was going to allow now deceased rapper Nipsey Hussle’s girlfriend Lauren London to grieve before he decided to shoot his shot with her. Despite pissing off the fan base of one of rap’s biggest modern icons as well as the rest of the rap community, he did offer an apology, albeit one he clearly didn’t mean, so if anything, a good amount of the industry is probably silently if not outright rejoicing on his recent arrest as karma for his disrespectful ways.

Other problems at the festival involved Lil Wayne refusing to take the stage because he didn’t like the way he was being treated by festival police. “To all my fans who came to see me at Rolling Loud, I’m sorry but I won’t be performing. The Festival Police (Not Rolling Loud) made it mandatory that I had to be policed and checked to get on the stadium grounds. I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job,” his tweet read. While understandable, when it comes to large crowds like this, it takes a little more effort to make sure nothing out of control pops off endangering the public. We also have to keep in mind that after his tour bus was shot up in 2015, which is still an open case with rapper Young Thug considered a suspect, Young Thug had two party buses of his shot up last week. Is it possible that Wayne had anything to do with it? Who knows, but that type of energy and back and forth is exactly why festival police have to check everyone before coming on camp grouds.
