After spending a few weeks behind bars for his alleged role in the shooting of a man outside of an Atlanta restaurant back in February, rapper Lil Durk’s finally going to be released from prison. It started with a call from fellow rapper YNW Melly who spoke to him showing support for him in hopes that he would be getting out soon. Then Durk, whose real name is Durk Derrick Banks had a bond hearing today where he’s been granted a $250,000 bond and the ability to get out tomorrow. The condition of his release is that he will have a curfew of being inside from 11 pm to 7 am with no house arrest. He will, however have to stay away from any weapons, at least 200 yards away from the victim and cannot have any contact with gang members both direct or indirect.
The charges that Durk is waiting at home before his trial to review his involvement include 5 felony charges, including criminal intent to commit murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and another charge of associating with a criminal street gang to participate in a crime. Part of the reason he’s been allowed to be at home is the fact the judge respected his decision to not only turn himself in when he heard of the charges, but flew in to town to do so. He also stated he had a family to take care of. Hopefully he takes the latter seriously enough to not get into any further trouble. A judge felt there was enough evidence to charge him during his last court visit last week, but we shall see.
