Rapper Silento was arrested on February 1st for the murder of his cousin Frederick Rooks and is currently being held in the DeKalb County jail without bail. Silento, whose real name is Ricky Hawk is being charged with his cousin’s murder after Rooks was found shot on Deep Shoals Circle. His family, while still reeling from their loss is actually rallying behind Silento according to his rep Chanel Hudson and has said that he has a “series of mental health illnesses.”

Silento’s attorney Bernie Lawrence-Watkins told TMZ that he needs a psychiatric evaluation ASAP and should be watched closely. He also says “anything is possible” when asked if he felt his client might take his own life behind bars. You all may remember that he appeared on the show The Doctors talking about suffering from depression since before the fame and talked about all of the drugs that were in his system when he was born to include cocaine, heroin and multiple kinds of pills. He was taking ADHD medications and sleeping pills by 14, went to juvi and a number of other unfortunate events at that time.

Taking Silento’s mental health into account, the elephant in the room still has to be addressed. When he had a sex tape of him that looked like he was doing the #CucumberChallenge from the wrong end hit the internet like he was Miina Mariie or Teanna Trump, he hasn’t been the same since. He’s been arrested for driving 143 miles per hour and attacking people in his house with a hatchet. That is the behavior of a man experiencing male fragility who is lashing out over being outed and we’re willing to bet that it was his cousin who did it. Traumatic events, as we said announcing his arrest, trigger mental health episodes. We know that the chances of any of this being admitted are slim but it is what it is. It’s a shame and sad to see all of this play out, to be honest.
