NFL player Richard Sherman caused the NFL Players Association to be shocked and “taken aback” by his Wednesday morning arrest for a burglary domestic violence charge around 6 am. The event took place in Seattle when a 911 call was made around 2 am where “an adult male family member who did not live there was attempting to force his way into the home,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
A statement was made by the NFLPA where Sherman is one of the vice presidents that read, We were made aware of an arrest last night of one of our player leaders for an alleged domestic violence incident and have activated our domestic violence crisis protocol for the protection and support of everyone involved. We will continue to monitor events closely as more facts are made available to us.”
And all this started around 1 am when a report of a single car accident took place where he struck a concrete barrier and abandoned the car. It isn’t clear if the events are related but this is some interesting and unusual behavior. His bail has been denied but that’s standard procedure according to a spokesman for the Redmond (Washington) Police Department who said it’s done to ensure domestic violence suspects are able to see a judge.
We’ll be reporting more on this as addditional details are made available.
