Just a little over a year after the overdose death of rapper Mac Miller, arrests have been happening. The first was a few weeks ago but on just occurred Tuesday after a warrant was issued and the home of 36 year old Ryan Reavis, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona was searched. A physician’s prescription pad, prescription-only pills, drug paraphernalia and marijuana were all found according to police. A number of firearms, a personally manufactured silencer and large amounts of ammunition were also found and confiscated. He’s now facing fraud, gun and drug charges and has been booked on $50,000 bail. No information on whether he’s entered into a plea deal or secured an attorney yet have been revealed. And as for the other arrest that occurred earlier in the month, 28 year old Cameron Pettit was charged with selling Miller drugs before his death. He has yet to enter a plea deal as well.
The industry paid its respect to him to him this month commemorating a year of him being gone including Thundercat who said he left his own tour to fly to DC to do a show with Miller just to show how he would drop and do anything for him if he asked. Kevin Abstract told the story of how he went to his first Miller show at 14 and was inspired to continue in music. Five years later he opened a show for him. He finished his thoughts with “RIP Legend.” Chance the Rapper tweeted, “Beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew.” Machine Gun Kelly lamented not having the chance to do a tour with him.
Then there’s the fact that Miller’s death occurred making him one of the latest artists to succumb to the opioid crises. Prince passed in 2016 from counterfeit pills laced with fentanyl that looked like generic Vicodin. So at the every least, his life is helping people involved in this drug crises.
