Selena Gomez has a new documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me where she talks about her time in the limelight the peaks and uenxpected turns into darkness. One of those turns includes her relationship with Justin Bieber where she talked about how difficult a public breakup is especially when the rest of the world wouldn’t let it go saying, “I felt haunted by a past relationship that no one wanted to let go of, but then I just moved past it. I wasn’t afraid anymore.” She went on … “I feel like I had to go through the worst possible heartbreak ever and then just forgetting everything at the drop of a hand, it was really confusing … but I just think that needed to happen and ultimately, it was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Their relationship lasted from 2011 to 2018 where she had to call on the likes of songwriters Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter to help her pen the record Lose You to Love Me to address her feelings and his subsequent marriage which went on to become a Billboard Number One hit. “I text Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter and said, ‘I think I’m ready to just say I’m sad,'” Gomez recalls. “We wrote the song in 45 minutes. The fastest song I’ve ever written.”

She explained the song’s meaning as “It’s about more than a lost love. It’s me learning to choose myself, to choose life, but also hoping that people can find grace and peace in that too. The song is about knowing that you completely lost every part of who you are just to rediscover yourself again.” You know what they say, success is the best revenge and that’s just what she did.

The documentary Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me was released Friday, November 4th on Apple TV+. Check out and come back to let us know what you think about it.
