Early Wednesday morning an iconic Krispy Kreme shop was engulfed in flames in Midtown Atlanta owned by none other than Shaquille O’Neal. The store sits on Ponce and has been a fixture over 60 years. It even sent 150 dozen doughnuts to feed people at local churches full of people in town for MLK’s funeral in 1968. Battalion Chief Douglas Hatcher stated the fire started in the back of the building but they were able to save most of the structure.
On Instagram Shaq posted a video of the blaze captioned with “Hope no one was injured. But we will be back stronger than ever #shaqskrispykreme.”That is good news for the employees of the shop he’s owned since 2016. As for his post-NBA retirement work, this is just one of the many projects he’s taken on over the years from being a spokesperson for Icy Hot, General Insurance to Frosted Flakes so he should have a few checks tucked away to cover him over in the meantime.
