We’re going on 5 days since the Academy Awards and we’re still taking commentary on Will Smith’s slap and just what that means for entertainment. What many believe was a man defending his wife and her health condition isn’t seen that way by a lot of people, especially those who spend time on stage as comedians. The Talk host Sheryl Underwood is one of those.
During a segment discussing Jim Carrey’s criticism where he said he was “sickened” by what Will Smith did, calling him “spineless,” she expressed how to be honest, she’s afraid to do stand up now out of fear she might get hit. “I’m going to say this as a comic, I am afraid now to get on a stage, because in my third show, when everyone’s been drinking. If you don’t like my joke, do you now believe that you can get up and slap me?”
There’s a few threads in this that haven’t been discussed often is that as terrible as alopecia is, did anyone stop to think that perhaps Chris Rock didn’t know Jada had it? After all, most anyone can remember about her and Will over the past few years are their infidelity issues which was 100% agreed upon, by the way. Outside of that, did Jim Carrey forget that his girlfriend killed herself and left a suicide note behind about how he got her hooked on hard drugs and gave her herpes? He might want to sit this one out
