“Every murder’s a tragedy, and we take them all seriously,” said Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy. “ This one generated extra public interest because Young Dolph was a prominent and beloved member of the community. We will continue to fight hard to make sure that all of those responsible for his death are brought to justice.”
Dolph was struck with 22 bullets inside of a favorite cookie shop that he frequented, Makeda’s Homemade Cookies while making an order with his brother. New still images show the suspects Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith exiting a white Mercedes with firearms and shooting into the shop.

The irony of Yo Gotti’s involvement is that his tour bus was shot up after a 2019 concert and while it wasn’t him per se that ordered the hit, the two rappers have been beefing for years. It all started when Dolph turned down a deal to join Gotti’s CMG record label and it’s been downhill ever since. On the morning of Dolph’s shooting, Gotti shared on his Instagram Story that you shouldn’t value the things you don’t have over the things you do which many felt was him saying Dolph shouldn’t value his self-proclaimed title of King of Memphis over his life. In other words he should have left Gotti with that nickname, essentially. He has yet to speak out on the allegations of his brother’s involvement but there’s really only one right response when a relative has been accused of ordering a hit on someone to benefit you. We’ll see if he makes the right decision on what side of history he decides to stand on with this.
