Jacione Fugate aka Phew’s song ‘Letter 2 U’ is PopGlitz’ Song of the Day. The video for the song starts with footage from his grandmother saying how she was never going to touch another cigarette again or even be around second hand smoke from a hospital bed, before a candle light vigil begins in the next scene. He explained in a Fox46 interview that his grandmother raised him and she passed away during his first year of college. In the song he raps about how people think he’s sleeping good at night when in reality he’s up concerned about his brother in the street.
Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, he’s described where he came from as a circle of violence and it was sports that was able to get him out. He’s known for playing for the Charlotte 49ers at UNC and for being viral as a model. And while a lot of media personalities try their hand at rapping, but he sounds like a veteran already. And about as much as he’s known for sports, he’s been viral as a model online for years so he’s already a recognizable face and brand.
