Young Dolph went on Instagram and posted to his story about his success as an independent artist talking about how much he’s been making a show and how it’s a shame signed artists aren’t doing better than him. “How da fuck im a independent artist and gettin 100rax plus for a show,” Dolph posted. “How da fuck @keyglock got more cars & ice than you & your ceo?”

Soulja Boy seems to have disagreed commenting on a post by DJ Akademiks saying, “That’s big cap They signed to @empire I’m really 100% Independent no cap.” Looking at it, in 2018, Dolph did sign a deal with Empire back in 2018. In fact, he eventually admitted to not being Independent in January of 2019 in a series of tweets saying, “The record label been bushittin. They want let me drop any new music. I KNEW I SHOULDVE NEVER SIGNED THIS FUKIN DEAL. I have a confession. I signed 2 deals in 2018 and signed a deal in 2015………. so now that it’s out that I’m not some big independent supastar, and I’ve signed 4 deals like everyone else. I wonder if all the rappers gonna stop hatin now. Sorry for shittin on u guys knowing dam well i got a Major deal.”
But the plot thickens. Not only does Soulja Boy claim to be Independent, he said he makes $100,000 a day last month. Given how he’s been known for lying about his income, that’s questionable. But what else is debatable is about him being Independent. In April it was reported that he himself signed with Virgin Records so it seems to us that they both should be ignored in this situation. Neither is independent but they’re both obviously making decent money. Now can everyone quit lying and get along? Short answer: Probably not.
