Offset is the last Migos member to release their solo album. He originally made the announcement of the release date at the Grammy’s, playing a video of his wife Cardi B giving birth to their daughter Kulture, an appropriate gesture considering the album title is Father of 4. The album’s cover shows the Atlanta rapper and his 4 children altogether.
Considering how he just had his first child with wife Cardi B, it’s easy to forget this isn’t his first time at the rodeo with having children. All clad in crowns and tiaras, Offset and his children are giving off the image of royalty. The only thing missing would be his wife Cardi, especially since they’ve essentially become hip hop royalty at least in popularity as a couple, but since they’ve been separated, her appearance in the photo or lack thereof only makes sense. At least he’s making his children a priority.
On the brighter side of things, Offet and Cardi have actually been working on reconciling. He spoke to Esquire Magazine about it yesterday saying, “It’s been good. We’re being more open to each other, raising our baby and taking things slowly.” Earlier in the month, Cardi told Entertainment Tonight that they were “working it out” and “taking it slow.” She added: “We always going to be a family that’s together. My baby love us both.”
Now to get down to the music, if you’re a Migos fan, you’ll love Offset’s debut solo project. If you were expecting to hear something new that would represent his identity per se, this isn’t going to be it. While he’s keeping up with the status quo of the group’s sound, we’re still holding out to hear him break out into more of his own sound soon. Perhaps some of his wife’s creative juices might rub off on him since they’re back together now.
