R&B singer Lil Mo has a gospel side to her that not everyone knows about and she let it out for this week’s PopGlitz Sunday Inspiration. The song is Dotted I, the closing track from her 2007 album Pain & Paper where she sings about how she may not dot every I or even cross every T but that the Master is still working on her. That’s definitely something we all should be able to relate to. And in her case, one of my favorite moments from Lil Mo was the day I woke up to listen to her new mixtape No Shit Sherlock where she sang about being street and still church. And for those who don’t like it, she said “Never understood why you peak but you never unfollow” which is quite fair if you ask me. None of us are perfect and if you don’t like us figuring it out along the journey, close your eyes and don’t look! lol

And lastly another testament of Lil Mo’s is that back in 2019 she kicked an opioid addiction. She was in the process of breaking up with and divorcing professional boxer husband Karl Dargan, something we wrote extensively about based on interviews she did at the time. She was on the rebound from her gospel singer ex-husband and had a hot young new man, but one that had them both looking like Bobby and Whitney in the street which she said her new manager described their relationship as. And it wasn’t until an Instagram post we saw of her in Dubai looking out of the window with her whole backside out that I said “Oh, something is definitely going on here.” But given the depths that relationship took her, we’re certainly glad to see her back to her old self. And one thing that can’t be taken from her is her talent. She has an amazing voice and has stayed true to herself and her craft throughout it all.
