In a tribute to gunned down Migos rapper TakeOff, a mural was painted for him on the Eastside Trail of Northeast Atlanta under the John Lewis Freedom Parkway Bridge. Painted by Armondo Monoletti in just 4 hours after his death who said he couldn’t sleep when he found out what happened, the location he chose for the mural was DMX’ mural which he painted over. And he’s the one who painted DMX’ mural. He claims to TMZ that there was no disrespect in the decision. He just did it immediately after his death, the same way he did for DMX. He says he did the painting with his signature shades off to humanize him.

TakeOff, who’s death was said to be caused by “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm” according to Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences in Houston following a shooting outside a private party at a downtown Houston bowling alley around 2:30 am Tuesday. An anonymous nurse who lives in the area that tried saving him after hearing the gunshots spoke to CBS affiliate KHOU saying, “I live close by and I heard, ‘Pow pow pow pow pow,’ and it stopped and I went, ‘That’s so weird so I got up in my pajamas, go over to the balcony, my neighbors were underneath me. I said ‘Did yall hear that?’ And they said ‘Yeah.’ And I said ‘I don’t think that was a car or firecrackers. That sounded like gunshots,'” she explained.

She says she heard a scream and saw people running which drew her attention. Regarding the scream, she said, “I’m thinking that’s the victim. That’s the person who’s shot,” she said. “It sounded like a cry of agony. It was a cry of agony but emotional not physical.” She later realized that was TakeOff’s uncle doing the screaming. He was screaming for an ambulance which is what lead her to go on her way. “You can hear my voice in a video yelling ‘I’m a nurse. No, no, no. I’m a nurse,’ because I wanted to let them know,” she said. “I was scared, but I had to go.” For more on her attempted rescus of the now slain rapper, visit KHOU.com
