Singer Teyana Taylor just gave birth to her second child with her Brooklyn Nets hubby Iman Shumpert early Monday morning, 3:28 am to be exact. And the baby had perfect timing as it came the day after its baby shower. Apparently the baby has manners. When was the last time you’ve seen a baby shower occur after the baby’s already here.
Announced in an Instagram post, Shumpert wrote, “At 3:28 am on Sept 6th 2020 Rue Rose 🌹 decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit. She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!!” And the baby, a girl named Rue Rose Shumpert was born inside of their bathroom and he birthed her. This actually makes their second consecutive child he birthed and in their bathroom at that. Their first child, Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr. is now 4 years old.
Shumpert continued his Instagram post to say, “Now…when we buy homes, we always find a bathroom with great energy… but not in a million years would you be able to tell me we’d deliver both of our daughters in a bathroom without the assistance of a hospital! Our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore,” he continued. “A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins….again. Welcome babygirl…we love you! 🌹 @babyruerose.”
This was followed up by a post from Taylor reposting her husband’s caption adding, “We love you Rue, welcome baby girl @babyruerose 😢😍🌹❤️.”
Taylor should consider herself lucky to have had her husband, an NBA player to be at home or just in town while giving birth and to be willing to help with the process. She’s also lucky to be able to continue working while pregnant. She just released a music video of her pregnant for her single Still from her June release The Album. Including footage of the ’92 Rodney King riots, she’s seen dressed up as Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till’s mother, Mamie. Long gone are the days of career ending pregnancies like Toni Braxton. And on top of that, she’s able to address social issues, something this generation is more free to do. Predecessors of hers could have a video like that haunt them for years to come.
Congratulations to Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert. We’re happy to see these two growing their family and being happy doing it.
