We chose to stay out of the Gorilla Glue Girl story because they say if you have nothing nice to say to say nothing at all. It’s hard to fathom how these things happen but then again, everything isn’t for us to understand. There is great pressure for black women to have both straight hair and to conform in society with their hair so hearing of great lengths people go in order to do so is understandable. Putting something in your hair that bonds glass and cement is another story.

But with all of that being said, a Beverly Hills Dr. Michael Obeng, originally from Ghana flew to L.A. and gave Tessica Brown $12,500 of surgery free of charge. He said in a video he shared, “I looked up the compound, the main active ingredient in Gorilla Glue, polyurethane, and we figured out the science and how to break it down. So I decided, we’re going to reinvent the wheel.”

And as a warning to others, Dr. Obeng said, “She’s been through a lot and I hope that you guys will learn from Tessica’s injuries or Tessica’s ordeal,” he said. “Make sure that any time you guys grab something, make sure you read it.”

But let’s talk about the doctor. We had the inkling to look him up when hearing about his good deed and it turns out he’s a reality star. He appeared on the E! reality show Second Wives Club who was on Ebony’s 2020 Ebony Power 100 List and won the 2013 NAACP Humanitarian Award for free surgery he performs on battered women and children in his home country. And he’s a handsome guy we have to add and with a gorgeous wife, Veronica Obleng. Some people you can look at and see they’re someone special which lead us to using our FBI skills.

And we’re not the only ones who find him attractive. He sued E! to not air the humiliating footage of him and his children. The storyline he was concerned about was the alleged mistress airing out dirty laundry on television. This was back in 2015. Now there’s an interesting twist to this. There are people who have been wondering if this was a publicity stunt. On January 20th he posted on Instagram that he will be on another show and to stay tuned. All I’m going to say is let’s hope not. Also, at the end of the day, being the first black plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills and an established presence, it should come as no surprise that the media wouldn’t be wanting to have him on a show of any sort so let’s wait to see what happens.
