Tia Mowry made the surprising announcement that she was separating from her husband of 14 years, Cory Hardrict. In a photo of the couple together on Instagram she captioned, “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children. I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
The reason for the divorce was stated as “irreconcilable differences” in the dissolution petition Mowry filed. She’s asking for joint physical and legal custody of their 2 children Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4. She’s asking that neither receive spousal support and regarding their property, “Pursuant to the parties’ Premarital Agreement, all assets and obligations of each party are her/his separate property,” so any royalties each party receives, the other party won’t be subject to it.
And Mowry has pulled in the big guns to make sure she doesn’t have any trouble in her divorce proceedings hiring Kim Kardashian’s divorce attorney Laura Wasser. She’s also brokered the splits of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.

The couple met while filming the independent horror flick Hollywood Horror and the two got to know each other better after she gave him a ride from a bus stop. “I was waiting at the bus stop,” Hardrict told Global Grind. “[Tia’s] sister and her drove by, they saw me waiting, and asked me to give me a ride,” he said, adding that he was embarrassed to be found at a bus stop in a bad part of town. At the time, Mowry actually wasn’t interested in love or dating, telling People, “I was in my early 20s, juggling my career and going to school.” He said the two took things slow saying, “We weren’t physical, we didn’t do anything for a while to make sure this was something special and this was something real.
And the irony is that this was all done on the same day that Tamara released her new memoir, “YOU SHOULD SIT DOWN FOR THIS: A Memoir about Life, Wine, + Cookies,” about her transition into the public eye from child star to actress to talk show host. It looks like both women are embarking on new ventures at the same time. We certainly wish them both the best.
